Traveling from TV screen to cruise ferry. Festival AMBERSTAR true story.

This year legendary talent contest AMBERSTAR celebrates 15 year anniversary. Many changes including place and format were made during these years, but young participants’ will to reach their dreams still stays the same. It’s very important to be self confident, overcome stage, audience fear and reveal the talent as soon as possible.

TV show project AMBERSTAR started in 1999. Participants had unique opportunity to perform on Latvian Television broadcast. Youtube didn’exist that time and high speed internet was not widely widespread. TV show format was the best possible way for participants to be heard and seen by wide audience.

The show had been shoot in different Latvian cities and outside of the country for two years. The audience of 50 000 viewers watched the contest. The best performers were invited to International festival that took place in Italy. Even those who didn’t win the contest had a chance to get the unique stage performing skill and to experience very special creative atmosphere. Many of that time contest participants like actress and singer Kristina Zaharova, opera singer Artem Safronov, singer Dinara Rudane, actress Daniela Selicka built successful careers and are well known by Latvian public today.

Valentina Makarova has been producing the festival from the very beginning till today. Since 1994 she’s also been organizing the following international TV shows and festivals: EUROJURMALA, BALTIC VOYAGE, DEBUT PREMIUM, CHRISTMAS SURPRISE, BALTIC LYRE, TALENT SHOW, MORNING STAR JURMALA, MOSCOW-JURMALA, numerous festivals in Sweden and Germany and represented international art festival SLAVYANSKY BAZAR in Vitebsk.

Since 2001 AMBERSTAR contest changed the format and moved to prestigious Latvian concert hall DZINTARI, where brightest local and foreign stars were performing. Pop singers like Ani Lorak, Nikolai Bakov, Anzhelika Agurbash, Lili Ivnova, Taisiya Povaliy, Nikolay Gnatiuk, Riccardo Fogli joint the event.

In 2005 festival was dedicated to famous Latvian composer Raimonds Pauls, celebrity actress Vija Artmane became a very special guest of the festival in 2006. New pop artist generation including Roberto Meloni, Oksana Bilera, Natalia Tumshevic sparkled on the stage of the concert hall DZINTARI.

In 2008 AMBERSTAR reached Sweden by prestigious cruise ship ROMANTIKA and since then takes place in STARLIGHT PALACE concert hall on board.

Contest participants got unique opportunity to explore two capital cities – cozy, quite Riga and discreet, but charismatic Stokholm. In 2012 famous Swedish band ABBA was celebrating 40 years universary. Participants and invited celebrities were singing their well known hits.

Since AMBERSTAR was founded more then 7000 participants from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Belarus, Turkey, Australia, Italy, France, Kazakhstan, South Africa and other countries joined the contest.

This year the festival takes place on cruise ship ROMANTIKA from Aug.18 to Aug.20.
